The unspoilt beauty of the area around Bumblebee Cottage provides walkers with the opportunity to experience its different cultures, folklore and landscapes. Taking in the many beaches, cliffs, rugged hills and stone-age archaeology, you will discover that south-west Donegal is one of the most interesting walking areas in Europe.
Nairn Portnoo Golf Club is the closest golf course to Bumblebee Cottage. It is considered one of the finest natural and scenic 18-hole links Golf courses in Ireland, with sweeping views of Gweebarra Bay. A little further away, Donegal Golf Club is a challenging Championship Links golf course that occupies the magnificent Murvagh peninsula. It has a panoramic view of the Bluestack Mountains.
There are many beautiful scenic cycle routes in the area around Bumblebee Cottage. Contact Ireland by Bike in Teelin for self- and fully-guided cycle tours of Donegal to take in the area’s stunning coastal routes. They rent out both electric and regular bikes for one or more days.
Sea angling and boat trips
Killybegs is one of Ireland’s premier fishing ports. Killybegs Angling offers deep sea angling, sightseeing, diving and wildlife spotting all year round. Slieve League Boat Tours brings you close to Slieve League, Europe’s highest accessible sea cliffs. Boats are often joined by wildlife like dolphins, whales, seals, and in May and June you can see basking sharks feeding on the plankton.
Slieve League Kayaking offers kayak rentals, lessons and trips in Teelin Bay (20-min drive).
In nearby Bruckless (20-min drive) you will find Deane’s Farm Equestrian Centre and Castleview Equestrian is a family run farm located in Loughros Point, near Ardara (25-min drive), both of which offer a unique opportunity to discover some of the most breathtaking scenery in south-west Donegal on horseback.
